The course will be divided into six two hour sessions, accessed LIVE through a private and dedicated Facebook group, where I will break down ICM into logical and easy to understand sections. The sessions I will record so you can watch them later if you need to go over the content again or if you were unable to watch live. All recorded sessions will be available for the duration of your course.

At the end of each session, I will give you an assignment and you will, of course, receive feedback and have ample opportunity to ask questions.

As with all my workshops, the course is based around a friendly, relaxed and fun group environment, where you can learn from me, from your assignments and from other group members. You will be able to post and ask questions in the Facebook group for as longs your chosen course runs.

Suitable for: Complete beginner ICM artists

 

You will need :

• A DSLR or mirrorless interchangeable lens camera.

• Either an 18-55mm zoom lens or around 35mm or 50mm prime lens (Full frame equivalent 24-70mm, 50mm or 75mm)

• A 6 stop ND filter. I don't recommend variable ND filters for this, mine is a screw in one from Gobe (now Urth).

• A sense of humour and a little patience, Rome wasn't built in a day!

What you will learn:

• What ICM is and what it is not

• How ICM can be used to make a very ordinary scene shimmer and dance

• What equipment you need - camera, focal lengths and filters

• What factors are involved in making a good ICM photo

• Composition

• Light

• Moment

• The all important directional movements and their effects

• Camera settings and their effects

• Observation and looking at colour/black and white in an ICM image. It’s not the same as in a focused shot, not at all

• Post processing

• How to laugh at yourself as you dance around with your camera with not a care in the world, knowing you are creating art!

• We will cover nature, city and people ICM to give you as wide a spectrum as possible.
