ONLINE WITH ALEX
THE ART OF IN-CAMERA MULTIPLE EXPOSURE  (ME)

I have developed a fun, informative exciting beginners online workshop that will give you LIVE access to everything I know about creating ME images. There are no fixed start dates and whether it's just you or you want to learn with a group of friends (max 6 students in total), we can start almost anytime!

The course will be divided into six fortnightly sessions, accessed LIVE via Zoom, where I will break down ME into logical and easy to understand sections. The sessions I will record and upload to a private dedicated Facebook group, set up just for you, so you can watch them later if you need to go over the content again or if you were unable to watch live. All recorded sessions will be available for the duration of your course.

At the end of each session, I will give you an assignment and you will, of course, receive feedback and have ample opportunity to ask questions.

As with all my workshops, the course is based around a friendly, relaxed and supportive environment, where I walk you along the same path I took, allowing you to see what I saw and understand what works, what doesn't and why. My students find this a very effective way of learning and I love to see the aha moments of each person.

The dedicated Facebook group is how we stay in touch and post images. It will remain open for as long your chosen course runs and for a few months afterwards. I always want you to feel you can ask a question even though your course is over.

*If you'd like to learn multiple exposure but your camera is only capable of combining 2 images and has only average blend mode (as opposed to 9 images and 4 blend modes), don't despair, drop me an email and let's talk about how we can tailor the workshop to suit you.

**If you'd like to book an in-person workshop in my area, please contact me, I have limited slots available for those this year, but I will do my best to make it possible. Prices will vary according to need.

Price for the six session workshop:

500 euros for one to one

300 euros per person for group of 2-3

235 euros per person for groups of 4-6

A non refundable deposit of €100 is payable when we agree our start date with the remainder to be paid 4 weeks before we begin. If your start date is within 4 weeks of booking, the fee is payable in full on booking.

PLEASE EMAIL ME TO BOOK.

Aimed at: Complete beginner ME artists

You will need :

  • A DSLR or mirrorless interchangeable lens camera that has the capability of shooting up to 9 multiple exposures.

  • Either an 18-55mm zoom lens or around 35mm or 50mm prime lens (Full frame equivalent 24-70mm, 50mm or 75mm). I shoot mostly with the Fujifilm Xpro3/XT4 and the Fujifilm 16-55mm f 2.8 to give me maximum flexibility.

  • A sense of humour, an interested mind and a little patience, Rome wasn't built in a day!

What you will learn:

  • What ME is and why I create images in camera and not in post processing

  • How ME  can be used to completely transform a scene

  • What equipment you need - camera, lenses, focal lengths.

  • What factors are involved in making a good ME photo

  • Composition

  • Light

  • Moment

  • How to find scenes that work as ME photos

  • How to decide how many exposures to shoot

  • What the  4 in-camera blend modes mean and how to choose which one to use

  • Camera settings

  • Observation of a scene and looking at colour/black and white in an ME image. It’s not the same as in a single focused shot, not at all

  • Post processing
