Aimed at: Complete beginner ICM artists
You will need:
-
A DSLR or mirrorless interchangeable lens camera with batteries and charger
-
Either a zoom lens of around 18-55mm with a fixed aperture if you have one, but it's not a must and/or around a 35mm prime lens (Full frame equivalent 24-70mm or 50mm) I shoot with the Fujifilm XPro3 or XT4 with 16-55mm 2.8 zoom and the 35mm 1.4 prime.
-
A 6 stop ND filter, I find screw in better and you don't need to buy an expensive one for ICM, mine is Gobe, now Urth. I would advise against buying a variable ND.
-
Memory cards, bring several, you will need them!
-
You will NOT need your tripod!
-
Sturdy walking boots and comfortable clothing
-
Weather protection for both you and your camera - we will shoot come rain or shine and at the waterfalls you will get wet anyway!
-
Laptop or tablet for editing with usually download adaptors and cables
-
A sense of humour and a little patience, Rome wasn't built in a day!

Itinerary:
Arrival Day:
Arrive any time before evening. We will head to a local bar or restaurant to get to know each other a little and talk about the days ahead.

Day One: In the Forest
ICM is essentially learned here and we will practice the skinny trees movements before moving on to various other movements - all intentional of course!

Day Two: At the Krimml Waterfalls
Moving water is a challenge and where better to learn and practice than the highest waterfalls in Europe. We will walk through the forest up to the top of the three levels, shooting water, trees and scenes from the various viewing platforms as we go. We'll have lunch at the top and make our way back down. The pace of this day is easy but the walk to the top is a little strenuous, so get some walking in before you come.

Day Three: On the Mountain
Today we're heading up high and the cablecar will take us from the centre of the village to the mountain station at 2100m. We will learn and practice shooting mountain scenes, discovering which movements work best to show this beautiful landscape at its best. Lunch in a mountain restaurant and back down in plenty of time to grab a drink at my favourite bar for a Q&A and a round up of the three days together. In the evening we will head to a nearby restaurant for more ICM related chat and a farewell meal.

Note: Days Two and Three may be swapped around depending on the weather.

Depature Day:
Time to say goodbye as you make your way back home to continue your ICM journey.
