As photographers we spend much of our photographic life ensuring our subjects are in focus and that the images we produce for ourselves and our clients are sharp. This technique requires me to shoot in a completely different way, ensuring the image is out of focus but in a way that the subject is obvious and that it's clear to the viewer that it happened intentionally. It requires practice and time to get the subject not too blurry and not too sharp, but it's a fascinating way to shoot and very rewarding when it works. I love that I can shoot on the street whilst retaining the anonymity of my subjects.
